Mahrie was born and raised in the lakes area before enlisting in the United States Air Force. While enlisted, she was fortunate enough to live and travel abroad, which ultimately introduced her to a world full of flavor and a passion for experiencing culture through food and drink.

Following her time in the United States Air Force, Mahrie obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition degree before embarking on her journey as a restauranteur. Since, she is actively pursuing her sommelier certification through the Court of Master Sommeliers, Americas.

Since opening The Garden Bar on 6th in Alexandria, Mahrie has recognized the desire for an intimate, sophisticated space that features inventive cocktails, rare and allocated spirits, and a wine selection that features lesser known grape varieties and limited-production wines.

Born and raised in the lakes area, Taylor began his journey toward mixology as a barista. Inspired by endless flavor possibilities, his interest turned to beer and spirits, where he discovered his passion for crafting cocktails.

"I love that there is absolutely no limit when it comes to creating cocktails; the flavor profile can be changed completely by simply adding or removing a simple ingredient."

Since, Taylor has been the lead bartender at The Garden Bar on 6th, fine tuning their cocktail program and creating unique, weekly cocktail features that many have come to enjoy in the lounge.

At Tannin & Oak, Taylor is excited to showcase his craft and share his passion with enthusiasts and those looking to expand their knowledge alike.
